The 2023 version of the DSG Annual Holiday Party was held on Sunday evening, Dec 3rd
at a new venue, deSha’s American Tavern, north of Montgomery. We had a private room
to ourselves which was nice.
A big thanks to Peter for all his efforts to co-ordinate the event details with the restaurant,
as well as his regular updates to club members via e-mail. We are fortunate to have such
an engaged Club President.
The evening kicked off with delicious hors d’oeuvres and lots of casual conversation catching up
with members whom we may not have seen for a while.
A photo review of 2023 DSG and other Porsche events was projected on a big
screen TV for all to enjoy. Thanks Stan for once again pulling that together.
A delicious dinner with dessert was then served by the efficient staff at the restaurant.
The program continued after dinner with presentation of a “Ladies gift” from the club
to all our special ladies in our lives. Next up was the much sought after DSG annual
special recognition trophies. These large traveling trophies recognize DSG members
efforts to “Keep the Faith” alive for the 356 community.
The “Car of the Year” award was presented to Kendall Kreig of Urbana, Ohio.
His 1959 A Cabriolet, which he brought to the 2023 Bull Session was a labor
of love that he personally did quite a bit of work himself, including the paint job
in his own garage at home. Well done Kendall!
The “Tom Oether Spirit Award, was presented to Glenn Patterson for his mild
“A” Outlaw coupe. Glenn tells us that he needed a project during COVID and
so he transformed his sweet “A” coupe into this mild Outlaw, and has driven it
to many local and east coast events including the Oxford Red Brick Reunion
and the Registry Holiday in Blowing Rock, N.C.
The evening concluded with the door prize give away. Once again DSG was
fortunate to have so many Porsche vendors provide nice items to take home
as a memento. Please see the list of supporting vendors on our DSG website
and remember to use their services for your Porsche car needs.
We are already looking forward to our Event schedule for 2024. The annual
Family Picnic and Bull Session is scheduled for Sunday, May 19th, 2024.
