The 5th Bellefontaine Hill Climb Revival was successfully held on a beautiful August 26th Saturday.
This event keeps getting better and better thanks to the Kurt and Laura Niemeyer and a whole
host of volunteers that do everything from, registration, paddock tech, false grid set up, timing and scoring,
course set up and safety, hospitality, and day of overall co-ordination to keep the program
moving. Yes it takes a village to run a great event such as this. Over sixty cars, and few trucks
tackled the historic hill in five groups, each run group getting at least three runs at the hill.
With the Porsche brand celebrating 75 years, the Group 4 was made up of 15 or so Porsches
of all vintages, 356’s to the latest 911’s. DSG was represented by Dick Weiss in his 58 Speedster,
Bill Myers in his racing setup 57 356A coupe, and Stan Yarrish in his 78 911SC coupe.
Several Ohio Valley PCA members were also participants, namely Bill Kief and Rich Rosenberg.
The 356 class was a battle between three cars, but Bill Myers came in fastest in this class,
followed by Dick Weiss and Dick Snyder in his 59 Convertible “D”.
Stan Yarrish took 2nd place in the 911 Air Cooled street stock class.
The Ohio Valley PCA did a tour to Bellefontaine Saturday morning with all
cars doing parade laps up the hill right after lunch. A PCA concours was
then held in downtown Bellefontaine that afternoon.
The day was topped of with a great celebration at the historic renovated Holland
Theater downtown where good food and spirits were consumed. Kurt mc’d
the presentation of awards for each class through third place. Kurt is one of the
greatest story teller of sports car tidbits, and he kept everyone engaged.
A truly great Saturday sports car event which is already scheduled for
August 24, 2024. Can’t wait!
