Drei Staaten Gruppe

Editors Note:
Our group has been very active since the last news letter with many members participating in shows such as the Arthritis Foundation (Columbus), Shawshank (OHIO Tub Fanatics-Mansfield,
Taj Kreuzers (Dayton), Das Vroom (Columbus), and the PCA Oxford event. We will have more info on these events later in the article.

I have decided to do a mailing again with this news letter and then hope to have the web site up for the next news letter with a mailing to those not on the internet. Bill Myers has been working hard on the web site and should have it working by the end of September.

We will probably go to six news letters per year with the following schedule, February, April, June, August, October, and December.

We will publish a membership directory once a year and then also keep an updated one on the web site. In our directory that will be posted on the web site we would like to have more information about your car (cars) including pictures. If you have a picture of your car and yourself could you please e-mail it to me at sleiding@fuse.net

The web site will also include an area for classified ads and for advertisers. This should be popular for our members getting good buys to other members.

Car of the Month

This months featured car is Glenn Jividen’s 1958 A Super Coupe, the one and only owner.

From Jim:
I purchased this car when I was stationed with the USAF in Tripoli, Libya. It cost $3,016 F.O.B. Bremerhaven, Germany. I picked it up in N.Y.C> and drove it to Western NY where I was stationed at Niagra Falls AFB.
It was used as a daily driver until I went overseas in 1967. A cooperative brother-in-law kept it for five years in San Antonia, TX.
It was raced some in the early years in hill climbs and even on the drag strip where I remember beating an Austin Healey 3000 one Sunday at Erie, PA. It has been driven coast to coast and to the top of Pikes Peak. The car and I arrived in Dayton in 1972 and my oldest don, Glenn drove it to class at U.D. He was brought home as a new born from the hospital in Duffalo, N.Y. in this car.
Alas, the salt of Western NY had taken it’s toll and it sat rusting for about 20 years in my garage.
After attending the 356 Holiday in Meadowdale, MI I was inspired to begin a restoration. It was completed about 5 years ago. The main changes was to a dual master cylinder and 5 1/2 “ wheels. I decided on Nerf bars but have finished bumper should I decide to restore it to original appearance. We consider the car to be a family heirloom at least my son Glenn is also a car nut with a SCCA competition Licence.
Finally, one of the most important events of my life took place in the classic when I successfully proposed marriage to Doris, my wife of 47 years.
