The 2009 356 Registry East Coast Holiday was held on Sept 10-13 at the West Baden Springs hotel and grounds, in West Baden Springs, Indiana.

This hotel is less than a mile from French Lick Springs hotel and casino. The Drei Staaten Gruppe had about 30 members and their familes attend the event. It was a great turnout by our club supporting the efforts of John and Shelley Howe, Ken and Andy Daugherty, and other committee members who pulled together a terrific holiday at a world class venue for 356er's to enjoy. Many of our members also volunteerd to staff various positions throughout the weekend. A big DSG thanks to you for helping stage the event.

The photo galleries to the right contain a chronicle of the trip by the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky contingent getting to the event. Contibuting to photos in the galleries are Stan, Nancy and Mark Yarrish, Dave Raum, Joe Fee, Brain Schroeder, Russell Clarke, Fred Uhlmann and few pics that I obtained permission from Bruce Sweetman to display on our website. I also put together a pictorial of the architectural gem that we had the pleasure to stay at. This hotel, built in 1901 in one year, after the original burned down, had just completed an extensive restoration in 2007 after years of decay and neglect by various owners.

Our lunch stop on Thursday was at Scott and Mary McCuskey's beautiful home in Madison, Indiana. Mary prepared more than a lunch for all of us to enjoy. It was terrific! Scott prepared a drive through some country roads in southern Indiana for us to enjoy on our way to West Baden. There was a stop at Huber Farms on the way. Sorry to report that some of our skilled members lost their way and never made it to the Huber Farms check point. I must say though that most of them were driving solo.

The photos tell the story. It was a relaxing event, with enough free time for folks to explore the area or the casino. The weather was perfect!

Two of our members received People's Choice Awards. Dick Weiss entered his Carrera Speedster in the Special Interest category and was rewarded with 1st place. Steve Gunder's just finished 1953 pre A S coupe took top honors in the pre A closed category. Congratulations to both of them.
