The Central PA Region of the Porsche Club of America played host to the world-famous Porsche-Only Swap Meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, April 24th, 2010. This is without exaggeration the largest event of its kind on the planet. It typically brings nearly 650 vendors, around 1,000 Porsches, and over 6,000 visitors together in Hershey every year. Despite the threat of rain, the event was held without precipitation all day!

This year six members of the DSG club travelled together to buy and sell Porsche treasures, and to sample the local fare. Peter supplied the transport vehicle, towing a U-Haul with our valuable stuff. Dick Weiss drove separately in Dr Cotton's RHD 59 coupe. Dick needed to return Sat afternoon for a Sunday family event so he chose to drive a 356. Along with Peter Boettcher, Tom Oerther,( I don't think he has missed one of these swap meets) Steve Smith, Carl Iseman and Stan Yarrish made the journey.

The group made a stop at the Carlisle, Pa. fairgrounds on Friday to check out the mega swap meet and car corral. You have to do Carlise at least once to check it off your bucket list. No Porsche items were found, as this is traditionally a US car event, with only two early 911's to be found in the car corral.

The Porsche swap meet was a huge success in terms of the weather and the crowd. Temps were in the low 70's, and as I mentioned earlier the rain held off. There were some very nice 356's in the car show, you can see some of them in the photo gallery at the right.

There were also several 356's in the " For Sale" lot, but I have to admit I didn't have time to walk down every aisle to check them out.

As usual we began to unload the U haul at about 6:30AM, and immediately the early birds were circling the 356 wares. A good percent of the sales are done in the first few hours. Also stopping by our spaces were fellow 356er's, Yuri Rojas, and Vic Skirmants. Mike Robbins was also at the event selling parts.

We did sell enough though to make room for several cases of Yuengling Lager to take home to Cincinnati.
